In-situ cleaning of fish farming nets in the sea is an alternative to biofouling inhibitory methods and net change. Such cleaning can result in extra wear on the net, and it is important to protect the net filaments as much as possible. A smooth and closed surface reduces cleaning time and limits the root system for the biofouling species.  A biocide free coating must withstand frequent cleaning and mechanical wear. At the same time must it also take care of the properties of the net, i.e. breaking strength, flexibility and elasticity.
